This is the largest visual update Helbreath Evolution has ever shipped: the entire game has been redrawn in high definition. The download is big — the launcher replaces most of the art in your install — so give it a few minutes on the first run. You must update your client to log in; the launcher does it for you, just hit PLAY.
New
- The whole game has been remastered in high definition. Floors, buildings, dungeons, monsters, player characters, item icons, the interface and the character creation screen have all been redrawn at four times the pixels. It is the same world — same maps, same scale, same silhouettes, same sprites you know — just no longer stretched from art drawn for a 1998 screen. Nothing about how the game plays has changed.
- Spell effects have been remastered too. Auras, impacts and the trails your spells leave behind are drawn from new art at twice the resolution — and they burn brighter. A Fencing cleave is a lit arc across the screen now instead of a dark smear, and the magic circles have detail you could never make out before.
- Every tree in the game has been remastered, and 18 of them now sway in the wind. All 46, each one rebuilt from its original silhouette, and no map had to be touched to place them.
- New Graphics option: "Small Trees", on by default. The biggest trees are drawn as smaller ones that already grow on that same map, so the canopy stops covering the world you are trying to fight in. Turn it off in F12 if you want the full-size trees back.
- Ctrl + mouse wheel zooms the camera in on your character. The default view is the maximum zoom-out, so you can never see less of the world than you do today — only more of your character.
- You can now choose what gets translated. A wheel next to the language flags in F12 opens a list of content categories — NPC dialogue, talents, items, spells, the interface — and each one you switch off goes back to English without changing your language. Play in Spanish and keep item names in English, if that is how you learned the game.
- Mail attachments work by dragging. Drop an item from your bag straight into Write Mail, the same gesture you use everywhere else. A stack now asks how many you want to send, so you can mail part of it instead of all of it — and gold can be attached too.
- The Hero Cape Catalyst works. Sacrifice a Hero Cape to create the carrier, then apply it to any normal cape to turn it into a Hero Cape that keeps its own stats and its own dye. Every hero item is now bound: it cannot be dropped, traded, mailed or auctioned.
- The loot roll popup shows the item's properties. You can tell at a glance whether what just dropped is worth a Need or a Greed, instead of deciding on the name alone.
Improved
- Reputation Points at the Event Officer are now a proper service — no phantom item icon, no fake tooltip, and you can buy them with a full bag.
- The Hero Cape Dye is now the Hero Cape Essence, its description finally matches what it does, and both it and the Catalyst have icons of their own.
- The bottom HUD bar lets clicks, targeting and tooltips pass through to the world once you fade it below 25% opacity. Toggle it from the F11 panel.
