Update 1.62.0

Patch notes are written in English only — the same text the game shows in every language.

You must update your client to log in. Close the game and the launcher, then reopen the launcher and press PLAY. On Steam the update is automatic.

Bring the whole guild. Parties now hold up to 200 players, and the experience pool keeps growing well past nine. Weapons forged with a property from Tom now wear it on the steel, and the chat now lets you switch channels without leaving the keyboard.

New

Parties of up to 200 A party is no longer capped at nine: invites and join requests go all the way to 200 members, and the member list shows everyone. The experience pool keeps growing too: a full party of 9 shares 3x the kill's experience, and each member past the ninth adds another ninth on top, so 20 players share 4.22x and 50 share 7.56x. The bonus for 1 to 9 members is unchanged. A full party now tells you so when someone asks to join.

The glint of Tom's properties Any weapon or bow carrying a property from Tom now shows it: a glint in the property's colour sweeps along the blade, with a rhythm of its own for each property. You'll see it in the world, on your character in F5 and on character selection, and on the item icon in your bag, trades, mail and the auction. It follows the Weapon auras option and Detail Low. Want to preview one before you spend at the forge? The Forge page of the wiki animates every property.

Tab switches chat channels While typing in chat, press Tab to move to the next channel and Shift+Tab to go back; what you've typed stays put. A bar above the chat line shows all six channels with the active one highlighted, so you always know where your message is headed.

Changed

  • Short Sword: the stun chance in PvP drops from 12% to 8%, and its duration from 0.5s to 0.4s.
  • Assassin's Edge: from +50% to +40% (from +100% to +80% at Rebirth 6).
  • Steady Strike: from +50% to +35% (from +100% to +70% at Rebirth 6).
  • Sunder: from 2% to 3% Defense Ratio per stack.
  • Colossus Slam: triggers 12% of the time, up from 8%.
  • Arena opponents are always enemies, even if they share your nation, your party, or are a traveler or neutral. Paralyze, Inhibition, Confuse and every other spell land on them, and healing spells no longer heal them. The arena maps are now called PvP Arena 1 to 6.
  • Monsters no longer waste spells on a target under Absolute Magic Protection: they either turn on someone unprotected or come after you with their weapons. Paralyze still goes through.
  • Illusions can no longer be hurt by anything. Dodge them by moving away from where you were fighting.
  • Monsters that can't hit back from where they stand, such as across a river, now fall back and recover instead of standing still under fire.
  • Death Valley and Silent Wood hold fewer monsters: their cap drops by about 20%, from 1430 to 1129 and from 1900 to 1498. Tower of Hell 1 loses its fixed Darkelf, Ogre and Beholder spawns: its monsters now only appear at random, with a cap of 460 instead of 500.

Improved

  • The launcher has a Texture Quality setting (High or Low), the same as the one in F12. On Low it skips the extra-HD textures, so your install stays smaller; switch to High and it downloads them right away.
  • New installs download in parts of about 1 GB, so you only need roughly 1 GB of free space on top of the game. An interrupted install picks up where it stopped.
  • The launcher checks your free disk space before any update and tells you how much is missing.
  • Fire Ball, Fire Strike, Fire Field and Fire Wall burn in warmer tones, and Meteor Blast explodes as a tighter fireball.
  • Stone and crystal mining veins have been redrawn in high definition.
  • After turning in a quest, the reward window has a Re-Quest button that takes the same quest again on the spot, whenever it can be repeated.
  • Tom's forge window has a drop-down listing every eligible weapon, with its icon and tooltip.
  • Colossus Slam lands with an impact and a sound of its own, and Fencing's cleave and the Long Sword parry each strike with a new slash.
  • Monster shadows turn, walk and float along with the creature.
  • Tower of Hell 1, 2 and 3 keep their original look in high resolution, and their zone lighting stays on the floor.
  • Server restart notices arrive in your chat language.
  • The Hardware cursor option keeps the game's own cursor shapes (grab, attack, cast, target) while letting your system draw it, so it follows the mouse with no lag.
  • Toxic weapons show their bonus on the Poison Damage line itself.
  • Gold and Silver Nuggets have clearer names in Chinese and Japanese.

Fixed

  • Every party member, including those past the ninth, now gets their share of experience and loot.
  • Stopping right next to a wall no longer leaves you half inside it.
  • Buildings turn see-through when they cover your character, including the central castles of Elvine and Aresden and walls that only hid your legs or one side.
  • If you disconnect while dead, you log back in alive at the revival zone.
  • Messages starting with "price", "wts" or other trade words stay in your whisper instead of jumping to Trade chat.
