New to Helbreath
Health, mana and stamina
After this page you will know how to keep your three bars full, why you must eat, and what happens when you die.
Your three bars
- Health (HP) — the red bar. Your life.
- Mana (MP) — the blue bar. Spells spend it.
- Stamina (SP) — the wide green bar. Running spends it.
They come back by themselves
You do not need to do anything. Just wait.
- Health comes back a little every 15 seconds.
- Mana comes back a little every 20 seconds.
- Stamina comes back a little every 12 seconds.
They come back in steps, not smoothly. So your bar stays still, then jumps up.
Hunger
The thin standing bar next to your red and blue bars is your hunger. It starts full. It drops slowly while you play, about one small step every minute.
While there is still hunger in the bar, nothing bad happens. But:
- When it is almost empty, some of your hits and spells start to miss.
- When it is empty, your health, mana and stamina stop coming back.
How to eat
Food is an item in your bag. Press F6 and Double Click the food. That is eating.
You can buy Baguette and Meat from Marigold, the shop keeper. If you made a Magician, you also know a spell that makes food. Every time you talk to her, she also fills your health, your mana and your hunger bar to the top, for free.
Potions
A potion is a drink that fills a bar right now. You start with twelve of them: two small and two big of each kind.
| Key | Potion | Fills |
|---|---|---|
| 1 or Insert | Health Potion | the red bar |
| 2 or Delete | Mana Potion | the blue bar |
| 3 | Revitalizing Potion | the green bar |
You do not need to set anything up. Press the key and your hero drinks the smallest potion of that kind first.

Leveling up fills everything
Every time you gain a level, all three bars fill to the top at once.
Dying
If your red bar reaches zero, your hero dies. It is not the end. A Restart button appears on the right side of the screen, just above the bottom bar. It is a button, not a window. Click it. The game counts down a few seconds, and you are alive again.
Where you come back:
- If you have not joined a city yet, you come back in the Beginner Zone.
- If you have joined a city, you come back in that city's farm.
You come back with full health and a full hunger bar.
Once you join a city, dying can cost more: you can also drop one item, and it can be something you are wearing. Your starting weapon is safe — you never lose it.

Try it now
- Open your bag with F6 and find your potions.
- Get hit by a Slime a few times, then press 1.
- Stand still and count: watch your red bar jump up.
