Fishing
Fishing is a way to make gold, and the more dangerous the water, the better the catch. Towns and farms yield common fish; Middleland and Procella hold the most valuable fish in the game and its rarest prizes.

Getting started
Both things you need are sold by Marigold at the General Shop: a Fishing Rod (100 gold) and the Fishing Manual (100 gold). Reading the manual raises your Fishing to 20% — without it you cannot fish at all, because a skill of 0 never gets a bite.
The Fishing Rod never wears out: casting costs it no durability.
How a catch works
- Cast. Double-click the Fishing Rod, then click on water no more than 8 tiles away. The cast resolves 6 seconds later.
- Bite. The higher your Fishing, the more often a cast lands: about 18% of the time at 20% skill and 94% at 100% — never a sure thing. A landed cast always trains the skill, even when nothing bites.
- Hook. If a fish is swimming within 2 tiles of the spot you clicked, the Fishing window opens: it names what is on the line, shows what a shop will pay for it, and a Probability meter that starts at 1%.
- Let the meter climb. Every 5 seconds the meter rises by 1 to 3 points, until it reaches a ceiling set by your Fishing minus the fish's difficulty. It never drops on its own.
- Try Now! Press it whenever you like: the catch succeeds with exactly the meter's probability, so the best moment is once the meter stops rising. A success drops the catch at your feet, gives experience (harder fish give more) and trains Fishing. A failure lets the fish swim on — cast again.
- No fish near your cast? On a fishing map a landed cast sometimes pulls up a plain Fish (a shop pays 15 gold for it). Water on any other map only trains the skill.
- Fish stay in the water for 10, 20 or 30 minutes. Each map holds a set number of fish at once and adds a new one roughly every 50 seconds until it is full.
- Each species shows its own color in the water, so you can pick your target before you cast.
- Several players can work the same fish; whoever lands it first takes it.
- Fishing is capped at twice your DEX. How skills grow is explained on Skills & Crafting.
Fishing zones by danger tier
Every fishing map belongs to a danger tier. The tier decides what swims there; the map decides how many fish can be in the water at once.

|---|---|---|---|
| Aresden Farm | 0 · Safe | — | 14 |

What each tier can yield
What swims in each zone, from the most common catch to the rarest. Fish come first, then the rare prizes. Difficulty is what your skill fights on the meter, and the last column is what a shop pays.

Weapons pulled from the water, like the Flamberge +2 of Middleland, Procella, come with random stats rolled exactly like a monster drop, and the danger tier of the water sets the band they roll in.
Ring of Lone Wolf
The rarest thing in the water, and only obtainable by fishing: a very rare catch in Procella, and rarer still in Middleland. Here is exactly what the Ring of Lone Wolf does.
- Every 120 seconds while you wear it, the ring checks the map. The timer starts when you put it on and resets when you take it off.
- It only works when you hunt alone: in a party — a Global Side Party included — nothing happens.
- It only works when no hostile player is on your screen. With an enemy in sight it stays silent — you already know where they are.
- If a hostile player is anywhere else on the map, you hear a wolf howl, a wolf head appears over your character, and an arrow at the edge of your screen points toward the nearest one. It gives the direction only, never the distance.
- Every howl also gives you +10% movement speed for 30 seconds, on top of Haste. The buff shows in your buff bar with its countdown.
- A hostile player is one the game shows as hostile to you. Game Masters and players who are invisible to you are never pointed at, and if there is no hostile player on the map, nothing happens.

What your catch is worth
Fish are food, but mostly they are gold. A shop pays half of an item's listed value, and the Fishing window already shows you that half.
